Journal Six- Holding On and Reflection
Amos Powers is the tour guide at Key Underwood Coon Dog Memorial Graveyard located in Colbert County, Alabama. Powers is very connected to the coon dogs that rest here and tells many stories about them. I was particular drawn to the stories of the dogs themselves. I wish I could have heard more stories about the dogs. In order for your coon dog to rest there, it must be full blooded and it's story must be told by someone other than the owner. Power's coon dog, Red, resides there. When he speaks of him he gets emotional. He says, "A good coon dog, is like one of the family."
