Born on February 4th 1921 was Betty Friedan
She wrote The Feminine Mystique, about finding fulfillment beyond traditional roles for a woman.
Co-founded the National Organization for Women, served as its first president.
Stay in California or go to New York City, to New York city she went.
Was a reporter for a short time then got married and had three children as a homemaker.
She wrote her book because all of those Woman who played that role were fakers.
They had a right to be heard, they had a right to play any role they wanted.
Social revolution had started and she became the significant role in the Women's Right.
She even fought for abortion rights with all her might.
To seek help for working both inside and outside of the home, Friedan published The Second Stage.
She would do all of this hard work for women even without getting paid an hourly wage.
She is remembered as a leading voice for women's rights for the 20th century.
If a guy got in her way, they might end up in the penitentiary
On February 4th, 2006 in Washington D.C she died
If I said she didn't go down in history as one of the greatest female activist I would've lied.
My dream is to become a state trooper and make this world a safer place. My dream is for citizens to not fear cops, with everything going on right now about police shootings its hard for people to trust cops. It shouldn't be like that, we are hear to serve and protect.

Poems and Dreams from Tommy Marcarello
Elon's Futuristic Dreams
Elon is a man who you will find in a comfy chair,
whether it be in the seat by a computer,
in a drivers seat of an all electric car,
in the passenger seat of a multi million dollar space craft,
or possibly in the seat of a super sonic car.
Elon started in one seat in particular,
he started in the seat of a computer chair,
creating what is widely used today,
what is used to transfer money from one pal to another,
PayPal, giving him the funding for his dreams.
In an age of looking and dreaming to the future,
he brings the future into today,
with the all electric cars,
the solar cell company and other green companies,
their needs to be someone to be bold enough to say why not have it now.
My dreams
My dreams are simple and complex all at once. I have loved computers since I was a child and I don't believe that I have a time where I was not toying with one. I broke the computer about as many times as I fixed it, which was so many times that I have lost track. I loved the process of breaking something down and building it back up, because its a new puzzle every time.
Poems and Dreams From Mark Reed
Henry Ford's Quadricycle
A horseless carriage for a passenger,
Resting on top, is a seat in the center,
The ethanol powered engine, will spit and sputter,
The steering operated like a boat's rudder,
The wheels made of steel and wires,
Because it rides on 4 bicycle tires,
Although it goes, the lack of torque is a curse,
You can go forward, but not in reverse,
With an astounding 4 horsepower,
You can get to 20 miles per hour,
The transmission only has two gears,
This machine was the foundation for the upcoming years,
Henry grew up on a farm with a shovel and sickle,
From watch-making to steam engines his life was fickle,
But in the end, his legacy began with the Quadricycle.
Real Life Experience
My vision is that one day engineers will have a minimum of 5 years of hands on experience in the engineering profession they wish to pursue. For example, if a person wants to become a mechanical engineer, then he should have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanic.
In those five years, the person will be able to see how things were engineered before their time. They will see designs that are great and they will see designs that are not so great. From these experiences, the individual will have a better foundation to engineer machines, buildings, electrical projects and they will actually understand what they are engineering.
In the five years of hands on experience, the individual will also be able to intelligently decide if they want to become an engineer in that particular field. Instead of going to school and building a significant amount of debt in school loans, only to find out they are miserable engineering and designing things.
My reasoning for believing this is because I have seen graduate "engineers" that don't know how to measure the distance between two holes on a piece of sheet metal, they don't know the difference between a sprocket and a gear, and/or they don't understand why we use different types/sizes of wire for certain applications.
If I had the chance, I would create an Engineering School where your final grades were based on practical application. Not just your academic standing.

Part Two: One of my biggest dreams is to really travel and see the world. Not just like beaches and sand but like historical things, like different places of Europe, or the great pyramids, but i would also like to get away from modern society as well and travel to places where it is mostly nature and exotic places as well
Natalie Linder
Eyes:
Strokes of the brush
A still that can reach your soul
From Paris to Berlin
We are all the same
A light bulb illuminates the day
Then dusk arrives
So do the monsters held inside
Glance at those around you
Look past what you see
Glimpses of their soul
More revealing than their Tee
Eyes never change
Years of struggling art
How to be set apart
I paint what I feel
But do they feel what I paint
Trusting those around me
Push me towards my dreams
Remember the eyes
They are always what they seem
Part Two: My dream is to one day start my own winery and have a bed and breakfast attached for visitors to stay in. Growing and producing my own product is very exciting for me. I love marketing and learning how to run a business. There are three different kinds of grapes: American, European, and Native American Muscadine. There are white wines and red wines. Red wine usually has a thicker, sweet taste, such as Merlot. White wine is usually a lighter taste, such as Chardonnay.
Having a bed and breakfast on my winery will be the icing on the cake of my life. This would be a great place for people to come relax and enjoy locally grown wine. They could travel throughout the grounds and enjoy a low key environment. I think that live today is extremely fast paced and I would take pride in giving people a place to relax.
These dreams are just dreams as of now. I am not sure where I will live or where life will take me but part of life is making decisions. We get the chance to make conscious decisions of where we will end up in life. Starting slow, maybe a few acres of grapes at a time would be amazing. We usually can’t achieve our dreams overnight but if we stay focused on our goals and work towards achieving them, then anything is possible.
Poems and Dreams by Christina Peck
She was born in the midwest on a dairy farm,
but knew she did not belong
Her inspiration came from her experiences outdoors;
flowers and bones caught her attention the most
She felt she could not paint the desert mountains enough;
there was always something new when she watched them
She was often alone, but also not;
the New Mexico desert was company for her
She found beauty in many places,
the New York skyline, the view out of an airplane window, and the desert
She took time to get to know the places she loved,
she camped, hiked, and slept in the desert to experience it all
She knew the place she found was where she belonged,
but what she had truly found was herself
Georgia O'Keefe
The biggest dream I have is to move to Colorado, own a ranch on acres of land, and be somewhat self-sufficient with my family. I think teaching my children about doing things on their own through our own land would be a great gift to give them. I'd love to have a large family and room to accommodate family and friends during the holidays. Even though it may seem cheesy, the biggest vision I have is fully decorating my log cabin for Christmas, having a huge, 12 foot tree in the living room in front of a window overlooking the mountains, and having my entire family over to eat dinner together. To me, this would be fully achieving success and happiness.

Henry Ford
What comes into your mind when you think Henry Ford
Maybe its an assembly line a truck and many more
He has now become a man we will never forget again
But he started out small in Dearborn, Michigan
Henry was from a family of famers
But he knew he had a different calling
In Detroit is where he hoped he could stand without falling
He started with an apprenticeship and worked his way up
He took his lumps
But always looked at life like a half full cup
Then in 1903 he formed the Ford Motor Company
Which is now a household name for you and me
Then the world was changed forever with the Model T
The first affordable car for a normal guy
Then the assembly line made production fly
Fords influences on he industry changed history
And for all the cars that get sold and taken off the floor
No one will ever forget Henry Ford
Part Two: One dream that I have always had would be to go to exotic and different places of the world and explore and live in the wild. I have always had an interest in hiking and camping and I love the outdoors. I would love to to travel to the rocky mountains or the Caribbean and live off the land for a few weeks. I would only bring a few essential things with me and try to see if I could do it. I think this is something that I have dreamed about for a long time and hope to accomplish it someday. I think this would be the ultimate test of who you are and how strong you are. I want to push myself and I think it would be so peaceful getting to live with nature for a few weeks. This is something that I really want to do before I die.

Part 2:
I was born in Algeria and I've always wanted to make a lasting impact on my country. Five years ago my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and after the dust settled I always had an idea in the back of my head. Many women in Algeria live in villages and either cant afford or can not reach a medical facility. When I get married to my long time boyfriend we hope to have a mobile mammogram bus that gives free mammograms to women in need. We have to save a substantial amount of money but hopefully god willing we can touch the lives of women all over the country and prevent unnecessary deaths by detecting breast cancer in its early stages.
Another one of my dreams that goes hand in hand I want to become a pediatrician and after my training I hope to travel to Palestine and practice medicine there with my boyfriend who is studying to be a teacher. We want to educate Palestine's youth and make sure they are healthy enough to lead amazing lives.
Poems and Dreams: Michael Trawinski
Part One: Stanley Kubrick Poem:
I am a man born of mind,
through tales of intrigue I bind.
It is film through which I tell,
my stories of which I dwell.
From a man who suffers a disorder in the brain,
to a man of which evil spirits drain.
An odyssey in space,
to a night-long place.
I have told it all,
from big to small.
My life in pictures was all well,
until the day I fell.
The cause of it was my heart,
from which of life I part.
But my vision will live on,
forever far and long.
I am a man born of mind,
through tales of intrigue I bind.
It is film through which I tell,
my stories of which I dwell.
From a man who suffers a disorder in the brain,
to a man of which evil spirits drain.
An odyssey in space,
to a night-long place.
I have told it all,

My life in pictures was all well,

The cause of it was my heart,

"A man with a big vision of storytelling in film."
Part Two: This may sound like an ordinary average goal in everyday life, but to me it is something far more elaborate. My wild dream is to someday make it into Hollywood. As a child I always enjoyed acting out movies and making up my own fantasies of myself in the movie, especially Back To The Future, which was my favorite back then. I enjoy other movies as well through special effects and storytelling, mainly because it is entertainment and I believe that we all have to look towards entertainment because it is a way for us to escape from the pressures of everyday life. The one thing I always wanted to do was to be an actor and have fun doing scenes in action movies. For the most part if I were to become a Hollywood actor, I wouldn't be one who is always in everybody's face just to show that they are popular or to get involved with politics. Instead I would just be an actor for fun. Maybe someday I can work part-time as an actor while still working my regular everyday job. I don't need an agent. If I read about an upcoming film that sounds good to me, I'll take a role. In the end, I do hope that I will someday live the dream that I have been dreaming about since my childhood. As long as I have hope, I can't fail.
Poem and Dreams: Matt Elswick
Frank Lloyd Wright
The first American Starchitect
An ego so large he could not house it
A hopeless romantic that found new love with the change of season
Taliesin struck by tragedy not once, but twice
Sought to end classical influences
Gave birth to Usononia
Geometric master
Had a love affair with the square
He brought the outside in
Form was to become function
Blended structure and nature
Made a home on a waterfall
Defined the organic structure
Built homes from local goods
Part 2:
My dream is to have a workshop that would allow me to build anything I could desire. This is not an inexpensive goal. My idea is to obtain mills, lathes, routers, a small CNC set up would be ideal. I have a few bench tools, but I need more. Some of the things I want cost as much as a car. Having space is also a must. I may have to start poking around auctions and looking for small machine shops going out of business. Some of the best stuff comes from the 1950's. I was never really into art and I don't a fine touch, but I am effective at making things that actually do something. The second facet to this goal would be to share it with people who share this interest. Tools can be expensive but once the set up is complete, the ability to repair or build anything you need makes life ridiculously inexpensive and incredibly rewarding. You can also turn a tidy profit with the right hobby.

Part One:
Art Spiegelman is a popular illustrator to the fans of the underground comics.
I wonder why there isn't any bioptics.
He's mainly known to those who read Arcade and Raw.
Each comic is a ball.
His most remembered comic is maus.
Where nazis are depicted as cats.
Weird as it may seem, what would you say if they were bats?
The jews were depicted as mice.
Thank goodness he wasn't known for having lice.
Having done work for counterculture
comic readers from all over flocked to his works like vultures
After being awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1992
Maus II became New York Times best seller because, of people like me and you.
Even though some of his best works were translated in more than 20 languages
After reading several of his comics you left with your sides wrapped in bandages.
Part Two:
If I had the chance...
I honeslty can say that I love movies a lot. If I had the chance to make movies I would. I would create a production company and start working on writing scripts for stories that I feel audiences would be interested in watching. I would become the underdog of movie production. I would strive to create films with compelling stories that would be considered new and refreshing. Nothing like most of the movies we see today in theaters. Most of us think that Hollywood can't seem to come up with something new anymore, and if I had the chance to make movies I would take on that challenge of creating newer stories with developed characters that mean something to us.
I've looked into all that it takes to make a movie and the costs are enormous! I can't imagine haing that amount of capital in order to make a single film. Not to mention whether or not it'll be a blockbuster either. What if I could make a blockbuster, or several without having to spend beaucoup amount of money? Maybe involve a small community? That could unify a lot of people. Create jobs or at least make people feel good about themselves for helping to make a great movie. I guess all of this would depend on what kind of movie I'll be producing too. I've always had this wild dream of being able to make movies that would at least be played in small local theater chains. I honestly can say that it's possible that one day I can be doing that. I've already begun saving every nickel and dime in order to buy the equipment for filming. I'm already an avid screenwriter. Once I get my mind set on what story I want to film, all I need to do then is start preo-production.

Part One:
(Supposed to be to the tune of
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song)
Now, this is a story all about how
A girl learned to dance all around
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right here
And I'll tell you how she became known as the Queen of
Modern Dance
1894, Pittsburg where she was born and raised
But in 1908 her family moved, so California is where she
spent most of her days
Fan Kickin, Hingin, Lungin, all cool
She went to Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts
until 1922
When a couple of guys who thought she was good
Started puttin her in films, cuz she understood
She performed "Xochitl" where she gained most of
her fame
1926, she started the Martha Graham Dance Company, to expand
her name
1970, she retired at 76
After 54 years of lots of kicks
1976, she won the Presidential Medal of Freedom
As she continued to build her kingdom
1991, she passed away but everyone still knows her name
2015, she was inducted in the National Women’s Hall of Fame
Some may think she got her fame just by chance
But that’s the life of the Queen of Modern Dance

I really love to sing, but I haven’t been to open about
singing in public. My dream to audition for the show The Voice. I’ve looked up
what it take to get on to the voice but have never been brave enough to fill
out the form. I hope someday I can get the courage to fill out the audition form
and go from there, but even after I fill at the form and audition my dreams
will be in someone else’s hands, which scares me even more than auditioning.
But I would love to just get the chance to audition.

May 26, 1951,
Sally Ride was born,
She did not know it yet,
But she would make history.
Seventh grade,
She found a passion,
She loved to go to school,
She excelled in math and science.
Stanford University,
She studied Physics and English,
She saw an ad to become an astronaut,
She applied and got the job at NASA.
NASA,
Went on two shuttle missions,
Is the youngest person to go to space,
Was the first American women to travel in space.
Author,
Wrote children books about science,
Encouraged young girls to pursue their science dreams,
Died on July 23, 2012 of a seven year battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

I love to travel. Seeing all the different cultures throughout the world excites me! I am so thankful that we are not all the same because then there would be no reason to travel. But, because there are several different cultures in the world, this means there is plenty of new things to learn! At this point in my life I have only traveled in the United States, and a little bit in Canada. One of my wildest dreams would be to travel to every state in the United States, and then to travel to every country in the world. I think that would be so amazing to see and meet all kinds of different people. I feel like there is a lot to learn from the stories and experiences of people form other cultures.

Luis Jimenez
He
lived for his art and died by it
But
in his time, the man was quite the riot
He was an American sculptor
of Mexican descent
With the will to
fight for his ascent
Known for his fiberglass
sculptures full of color
His art was like no
other
Easily recognized in
the art world
Because his work was
so controversial
The public always
adored his works
And through them they
could see his quirks
His heart burned full
of fire and flames
An intensity that
could only lead to fame
He decided to pass on
his art knowledge
To thousands of young
students in college
Man on fire may be
his most known art
Because it showcased
the man’s heart
His works of art had
quite the range
But he was taken down
by his blue mustang
Luis Jimenez was an inspiration
To past, present, and
future generations

One wild dream I have would be to be completely spontaneous for an entire week. I know that sounds kind of lame but I don't much room in my life for spontaneity between two jobs, school, and babysitting. If I had the chance to create something that would last and really speak for who I am and what I care about I would love to do a mural on one of the walls in my home, my space. I am not sure what it would be of but I think that it would be really cool to see it everyday and be able to be reminded of who you are and be proud of what you made. The idea just seems very cool to me and i would love to do it if I ever got the chance.

Poems and Dreams: Logan
John Brown

Born to a large family,
John Brown was a man for freedom.
He who helped with the Underground Railroad
Tried to take down the Confederate chiefdom.
As a child, he witnessed a black boy get beaten
Which proved to eat at him.
His father showed him that slavery was wrong
Leading to his hatred for slavery for so long.
Free slaves came to thank John Brown
As he kept slave hunters from coming around.
Unselfishly giving his land
He always gave a helping hand.
With the raid on Harper's Ferry
Brown's forces seemed kinda scary.
As his men tried to be free
They were punished violently as can be.
Part Two:
At this point in my life, I'm not really sure what career I want to have or what I want to be remembered for. As of right now, my vision is to own the local Arby's that I work at. I am going for the Business Management degree here at OSUM. One day, I hope to get a loan and buy the restaurant. As owner, I would do my best to lower prices and make customer satisfaction my biggest priority. Even further, I also plan to donate a lot of my earnings to my community in order to reduce drug use and to encourage kids to stay in school. I hope to make college a reality for those students who believe they can't afford to go. This dream isn't very wild but serving the customers and my community is something I care very much about.

Part one
Septima was born in 1898, and her both parents were born in
slavery,
Septima was strong like a Davey tree,
She was a teacher and intelligent like an encyclopedia,
Civil rights leader a bright star shining for the free.
She came from poor family, but her tolerant like an earth,
She encouraged her people with the example of their life,
Sympathetic and patient
She was a mighty force, a strong wind.
Septima was fought for schools to hire African Americans
teachers,
She was brave, a hero like a lion,
Teaching African Americans to register to vote giving their a
voice
She always like to success everyone on her people and educate
like her.
She united African Americans like bees in a hive,
She fought for freedom and lost her job because her supervise
said she was racism,
Fighting for freedom of
her own people, is not racists
She was very brave and a hero.
She worked hard and paid her own tuition in college,
She depended on herself instead of someone else.
After she finished her education, she flew across the sky
like a bird.
She won two Awards, one a Living Legacy Award,
The Other an Order of
the Palmetto Award.
Part two
My biggest dream would be my five
brothers in Africa to pay their tuitions in college when they graduate high
school. I love my little brothers. I always like to support them. I know they
are younger than me and they did not have the opportunity I have now. Since,
I’m the first generation in my family going college. I would always like to
encourage my little brother’s education and to become very successful.

Part One:
Part Two:
I love exploring; whether that be exploring nature or exploring cities. A child-like awe floods over me, and I become happy and at peace when I go somewhere I find interesting or beautiful. Something that has always sounded appealing to me is to pack my bags for five years or so and go to Ireland, then France, down to Italy, over to India, up through China and Japan and then fly over to New Zealand. There are so many beautiful cities and amazing natural environments in this world, all of which have an extensive history. I would also love to talk to the locals of these foreign countries and listen to their stories, I feel like this would help me to learn and understand about their culture more.
The reason I classify this is a wild dream is because I want to take this long trip in one span, not over the course of my life. Once (or if) I accomplish this dream, there are other places I do want to travel to, but not for as such long periods of time.
Once (or if) I accomplish this goal I would love to create a family. I know that sounds weird and mechanical but technically that is what you are doing. Being a mother has always sounded appealing, I find very nurturing characteristics within myself, and my parents are wonderful parents and great role models. I would love to even adopt children, because I believe it is important that every child has a mother and/or father figure in their live.
"Funk is anything that gets one's head on beat."
Tapping toes since seven in the depths of New Jersey
Looking up to the best, while they gaped at him
Absorbing like a Sponge, which brought on a certain whim
Of learning to not gloat, but to savor the history
"It is riding with the rhythm."
Moving and grooving, back flips and splits
Not always his style, but to commemorate the dead
Realizing that tapping was more then definitions that read;
Shuffle, Cramproll, Heel Drops or Clicks
"It is the pulse that keeps one rolling with the beat."
Bought the old building that held his young talent
Learning the power of expression is required by students
Keeping the the history alive is classified as prudent
Freedom and education are never kept silent

Poems and Dreams- Ruchir Saha
Part One:
Andy Warhol
Buried with a bottle of “Beautiful” by his side.
A man who was born as an artist
He had a variety of his artwork like a list
From the basic skills of hand drawing and painting
To the miracle of printing and silk screening.
These are a few of his favorite things
The 1960’s were his time
These are a few of his favorite things
The 1960’s were his time
That’s when he was in his prime
His masterpieces made
him an American icon
Coca-Cola bottles and his famous Campbell soup cans on and on
As well as a few paintings of the celebrities he liked.
He also produced a rock band, so was found

He also produced a rock band, so was found
The famous punk music band The Velvet Underground
In his studio, The Factory they were the house band
Their punk style became known across the land
Another way he shaped the era.
From improper care after surgery he died

Part Two:
When I was young, my wild dream I ever had was to become a space astronaut who
can travel to the moon. If I had a
chance or opportunity to achieve that dream, then I would spend time to pursue
two majors, which are astronomy and aeronautic science. Then I would spend a
long time in the Air Force or JROTC to master the abilities and skills like an
astronaut has. If I could do all that, I
think I would become a fortunate billionaire in the future with of the one of
richest jobs in the world. Also, I believe
I would set a World Record to be known as the “second Neil Armstrong”. In other words, I care about becoming popular
and famous in the world.

a man was born in brazil
unknown to all
he would one day be famous
HIs name was Sebastião Salgado
His interest was in economics
That is until he went to Africa
where he found photography amazing
and so quit his job
He is now a famous photographer
taking long trips to capture pictures no one else has
to explain to the world our problems
These pictures helped write books
and these pictures helped save our earth
From the people who make our coffee
to land that we live on
His newest project is called Genesis
and it tells the story of our earth
It shows us the beauty
The power, the animals and plants
His newest project is called Genesis
and it tells the story of our earth
It shows us the beauty
The power, the animals and plants
Each photo tells a unique story
That everyone should see
He has created a foundation
called the Instituto Terra
who’s mission is to protect
and conserve the environment.
His name might not be known to all
but someday it will.

2) I have many dreams I want to do in my life but the one that stands out the most is in California. I would love to do research in the canopies of the Redwood Forest. I could not imagine climbing to the top of one of the huge Sequoia trees!! I would want to do research on the insects that live in these trees and how they survive and act. This is a crazy dream but I am sure if I put my mind to it I can achieve it!!

Poems and Dreams- Julianne P.
PART 1:
Sojourner Truth
Born in 1797 and sold with the sheep
Sold to a rude man who could haunt her in her sleep
Grew up, had five kids, and was promised to be freed
Escaped since the promise her owner made he would not heed
Her and her baby stayed with a family who was fortunately not cold
And helped her save her son, Peter, when he was illegally sold
Became the first black woman to win a court case,
Something that would probably get into the men's face
Held the fire for abolition and preached for all to hear
And spurned a fight for women's rights for everyone far and near
In front of a crowd to speak on these was why she was summoned
And gave a passionate speech where she told them "And ain't I a woman?"
Fought for rights for those of her race in any way she could
Helped desegregation by means of the army and a streetcar in the neighborhood
She fought long and she fought hard so that all could have rights and be free
Helped to unite, fought hard for rights, died peacefully in 1883

PART 2:
The one dream that I have always had for as far back as I can remember is the dream to not only get a book published, but also have it turn into a movie. I absolutely love writing stories. I've been writing them since I was six and I've been improving as the years have gone by. When I write my books, I tend to play them out in my head like a movie so that I can see exactly what I want to write down in my book. Story writing isn't quite an easy task however. I love it, which is why I do it, but it's not easy to find the time to sit down and scribble down every single detail from your head into the book. And when you do finally finish, you then have the luxurious task of editing it so that it makes sense and is readable for any potential readers. For example, when I was seven, I wrote a book called The Mixed Team, which was based off of a game me, my best friend, and my little sister used to play back in Maryland. Over the course of eleven years following the book's original draft, I have typed it up, lost it to a computer crash and had to retype it, proof-read it, edited it, re-wrote it, let my mom read it several times, re-wrote it again, re-edited it, and took a two year hiatus so that I could figure out why the heck the book wasn't coming together. I have now found out how I'm going to make the book good and likeable and I am now about to go into yet another re-write in an attempt to make this thing! And then someday, I hope that either this book or some other novel I write may be good enough to be put on the screen of a movie theater and be just as good as the book. That way, I can sit back and think to myself, People love my books so much that they wanted to make an actual movie out of it! To me, that would be one of my greatest accomplishments. I still have a long way to go as my books aren't that close to being ready for publishing, but it's still a dream I'm hanging onto in the meantime.

journal 9 - gerrilyn shively
first off I would like to apologize for this being posted late i completely forgot to post this while i was baby sitting on Monday.
1. I looked at Scotty Kilmer's YouTube channel and it was very educational. i watched a few of the videos and they would definitely help me in a pinch. however my father is an auto-mechanic, so now i have more than one tool at my disposal. i will definitely use this when my dad is not available to work with me.
2. the source I found was a You Tube channel that explains the science behind everyday experiences people have that we don't necessarily think about. Vsauce, the man behind the magic, was nominated for a webby in science and education. the video i chose is called the science of awkwardness.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o268qbb_0BM the video is actually really interesting and goes in depth about awkwardness.

Poems and Dreams by Morgan Adams
Part One:
A man who was gay from birth
And harshly judged on his true worth
From an early age he hid his life
To help avoid the pain and strife
Soon he came out to the world
Preformed on broadway, proudly twirled
He first became a gay activist
And then was elected into office
From there he reached more new heights
Radically rallying for gay rights
Until sadly he was shot one day
Just because he was openly gay
-In Memory of Harvey Milk
Gay Rights Activist

Part Two:
From an early age, I have always loved animals. That being the case, my lifelong dream would be to raise enough money to build an animal shelter to take care of rescued abused animals until they are adopted by a new family. If I had the money, I would build the facility on the same lot as my house and run that business as my full time job. If I ever win the lottery or come into a lot of money, I would love to fulfill my dream.

Extra Credit prompts. From Mike Lohre
I have three movies that are up for review.
The first is called Inside Job, which is an award-winning documentary about the financial crisis of 2008. It is a must watch for every citizen, in my opinion. It is a deep piece of investigative and objective journalism, and helps you understand both the money system and modern government.
The second features Nobel Prize winner Leymah Gbowee. This documentary chronicles social unrest in the West African Republic of Liberia, where civil war has torn the nation apart and left hundreds of thousands dead or displaced. The film reconstructs the way this tragedy galvanized a coalition of Christian and Muslim women to rise up and, through nonviolent tactics, put pressure on their government to pursue peace talks.
The third option is from eccentric and award-winning documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman as he turns his lens on the world of boxing, specifically on a gym in Austin, Texas.
The assignment:
1> Take active notes, and you will turn in or send me a scan of your active listening as part of your points for this extra credit.
2> Do outside research for terms and definitions needed to better understand the movie, the director, or a specific theme in the movie. Include at least one outside source in your review.
3> Write a 2-3 page review of one of these movies. Use MLA style.
4> Send me the fininished review and your active reading notes at mikelohre@gmail.com
Depending on the quality and coherence of your review, I will add from 1 to 3 percent to your OVERALL grade for the class. This is usually engouh to bump you up one grade level (for example from a B- to a B or from a C+ to a B-.
Have fun and good luck!
This is due to me at mikelohre@gmail.com before midnight on Wednesday, April 29.

Journal 9 Skyler Siles
Part One:
For this part, I choose to read
the article "A Millionaire is Made Ten Bucks at a Time" from Mr. Money
Mustache’s blog. In this article he talks about how in today’s view, we are
looking to become a millionaire with quick, big amounts of money and that we don’t
realize the amount of money we can really save with the little ten dollar
things that we spend on every day. Ten dollars is a lot of money he says, and
if we really have a change in mindset about how we spend those ten dollar items
and rather than spending it we can save it and prioritize our things then we
can all retire millionaires.
Part two:
One of my favorite things to
watch in high school was the YouTube videos by the Channel Crash Course, especially
the biology related ones that Hank Green does. These videos are done by Hank and John Green, two brothers. These videos give you a very
broad but can offer also very detailed and in depth look into a subject matter
that only takes up 10 -15 minutes of your time. Not only do they give you so
much information in the video but it is presented in a very pleasing and in my
opinion fun way, with very well done production value, and careful consideration
of how it is presented. I would highly recommend that you go and watch some of
their videos.
