Journal Six - Natalie Linder

Johnny Tacco is a man who does not give up on what he believes in. As a child he would stand outside a local gym and watch the fighters. Eventually he was allowed to come inside to be a water boy. This inspired him to become an entrepreneur and start his own gym. His gym was located in Las Vegas and he plans on staying the owner until he dies. Mr. Tacco shares a similar point of view of many others that are in Holding On. He does not want money from people buying his gym because the gym means much more to him than that. He has a passion that he is not willing to give up. I love the thought of being able to live your life passion everyday. I have heard many older people say that if you do a job that you love then you will never work a day in your life. This seems to be true throughout Holding On. Each and every person in this book has a unique passion that they enjoy and others may not love it but thats okay.
The two most important values I could see in this book were the ability to be different and to never give up on your dreams. I think in today’s culture it can be easy to want to conform with others. This book showed me that it doesn’t matter what your passion is. Whatever you love is okay. No one can stop you from pursuing your passion. I would hate to go my entire life stifling my passion. Every person in Holding On had a dream. They wanted to collect bells and share it with the world, or share a story that has been told incorrectly throughout the years. The mission of each person in these stories makes me want to never give up on my dreams. We are all likely to have completely different plans in life, and that is okay because we are meant to follow our own paths.
