Journal Three Mason

I am surprised how well and how much I have enjoyed the reading so far. it is an easy read and is very interesting to see the people of America that aren't famous but help the world go around. My weakness so far has to be with remembering the names. I know the stories but I don't i can't always remember the names that go with them. I think I have been a very active reader. I have underlined and written in the margins themes and things that I find important or meaningful.
A theme that I have seen in the book Holding On that I have experienced in my own life is the Theme of Gardening and the Connection of Nature. In the interview with Mores Bikham he talked about tending his rose bushes. He said "I know it sounds funny, clipping stems, but these is my company-kepers." I found this to ring true in a moment in my life. When I had my second and third knee surgery back to back and I couldn't even run for a whole year I turned to gardening. I had a whole Garden with Tomatoes, Unions, Peppers, Corn, Potatoes(didn't work out well) and strawberries. I planted them all from seeds and raised them and enjoyed there food that fall. But it was more then just food. I was proud of it. It also gave me a purpose. Something to work on and improve when I couldn't do much more then that. I believe Nature will heal almost anyone in some way or another you just have to let it. From those days I have kept Gardening and now have a pretty big and nice Garden. I defiantly see what Mores was saying and this theme rang true for me.
