I think so far I am enjoying the book, because it is unlike anything I have ever really read before. It is unique and it helps show a unique perspective of the American experience, it is just stories of normal people pursuing their passions in life. To be honest I have been mostly passive in my reading technique because I lay back and enjoy the book and don't take it as an assignment more as interesting leisure reading.
I would say I am a person with a conviction for politics and what is going on in the world around us. All around us we are surrounded by the corruption of our modern government. We hold justice to a very high standard in the United States but sometimes as recent events have shown us justice does not always prevail. Over the summer I can remember hearing the story of a young man named Travon Martin and how he was taken from this world before his time. I was shocked to hear that such a young unarmed boy could be mistaken for a thug and a delinquent. In the ruling the perpetrator of the crime George Zimmerman was not charged and let off unscathed. We see the cases everyday of this racial injustice if the script were flipped I'm sure it would not be the same result. This really resonated with me, because I feel the pain of his family and the people who stood with him. I find it interesting to find peoples opinions on the subject and how they reacted to the case.
